About

Once upon an autumn’s eve,

in a forest yonder,

you may find a rabbit wanderer

Her mother is the Moon

Her father is the River

You can see why her fur is pure silver

Those days, the Sun had yet to appear

And the rabbit was given a clock to wake

the Ancient from its underground slumber

“This is your only chore.”

Said Mother Moon.

“This is all we ask of you.”

Said Father River.

“O’ little rabbit, do not forget.”

Was their reminder.

Three full solstices came and went,

And on the fourth, a strange Wind sent

a little fox,

of unknown intent.

His coat was red velvet,

His eyes were sapphire blue,

His smile was measured but true.

“I was told to find a little rabbit

winding a clock

For I am her guide of sorts

Little rabbit pondered

Of all creatures to follow, a fox?

Little rabbit considered

If she could trust him with her clock?

Many questions, little rabbit

But

A choice is a choice,

Chocolate Cake or Coconut Ice

Even so,

little rabbit took the hand of

the velveteen fox,

beginning a journey beyond her thoughts

They traced the path of Days,

across the swallows’ highway,

Following that, the Perseids

in spite of great fatigue

Afterwards, the ancient Nimbus

Infinite cloud that reigned greatest

In the mist of white and cotton,

Sat the duo

But her quest not forgotten

To the rabbit’s woe

Tumultuous

were her considerations

Until fox gently opened his umbrella

For a leap into an unknown destination

Tumbling, stumbling then landing on a quiet shore

in front of a glow the rabbit has seen before

My my my, if this isn’t their Sun

an eggyolk of a rum a tum tum

“Welcome little rabbit,

To Dream, not yonder

Here lies all that are unseen

And sleeps all who are redeemed”

And Little rabbit recognised the glorious star

All awake for the first dawn run

But then rang the clock

Waking her up with a jolt

Singapore, March 2021, on a New Moon

For the childhood rabbit, to the strange fox riding on stranger currents, and awaiting the Dream that ends all dreams.

I do not like cats,

I started this blog….because all rabbits need a home.
